The Teachers I Always Had

The Teacher I Always I Had

Yesterday was Teachers’ Day, and I saw everyone posting their teachers.
I have had so many teachers in my life, but somehow, I couldn’t post anyone.
Then I thought about the different stages of my life. At every stage, there were different teachers, different people, different personalities. And whenever they changed, my body somehow reacted to those changes.
But through every stage, there was one constant teacher I could always rely on and relate with: myself.
I have been a teacher to myself all along.
I have taught myself how to navigate different seasons, how to understand things I wasn’t taught, how to keep going when there was no one to explain the next step.
And then I realised something else.
Throughout my life, I haven’t only taught myself. I have also taught, influenced and impacted other people in different ways.
So, perhaps I’m not only a teacher to myself.
I am a teacher to others too.
Happy Teachers’ Day to me.
I’m happy, and I’m proud to be one. — Zaenabu

EVEN If I DIE

The poet speaks about death calmly rather than fearfully. He tells people not to cry excessively when he dies because death comes to everyone. He believes that the body returns to dust, but the soul is immortal. He entrusts his life and destiny to God. Also, prays against untimely death.
