Severed

Missing someone is beautiful. Saying goodbye after a long day is comforting. Watching friends leave for distant places is bearable. Why? Distance is not the end.

There’s hope…

Hope for another embrace

Another conversation

Another laugh

And another pointless argument

Even breakups and bitter conflicts carry a stubborn possibility. Pride can soften, hearts can change, and people can return.

But you,

Death.

You are the thief who never returns what was stolen

You do not knock, neither explain, nor negotiate

You rob dreams from hands still reaching for tomorrow. You erase promises before they are fulfilled. You silence voices that still have songs to sing, wisdom to share and love to give.

How dare you wear the mask of inevitability as though that justifies your cruelty?!

You leave chairs forever empty, presence forever lost and voices forever silent

You vandalize families. You obliterate futures. You dwarf memories, forcing hearts to search for the silhouette of what remains

You reduce decades of laughter to framed photographs, and some still praise you enough by calling you peace

No!

You are merciless

You are that wound that refuses to heal. You are the cause for incomplete words. You are the unanswered prayers echoing through an empty room.

Curse your cold hands!

Curse your appetite that is never satisfied, that devours the innocent and the weary alike, then walks away untouched, unconcerned, and unapologetic.

Yet hear this…

Though you swallow bodies, you cannot swallow love

Though you silence voices, you cannot silence their echoes

Though you end a heartbeat, you cannot erase the imprint it left  on the soul it ever touched

You may claim lives but you will never deserve the tears that follow them.

EVEN If I DIE

The poet speaks about death calmly rather than fearfully. He tells people not to cry excessively when he dies because death comes to everyone. He believes that the body returns to dust, but the soul is immortal. He entrusts his life and destiny to God. Also, prays against untimely death.
