Creators Terms And Guidelines
The Short Version
- Your work stays yours. Publishing on Creators does not transfer your copyright to Adroit.
- You give Adroit permission to show your published work on Creators, with your byline, and to share links and short extracts to promote it and Creators.
- You can publish your work anywhere else too, before or after it appears here.
- Adroit will never sell or license your work as its own without your separate written permission.
- Publication here is not academic peer review.
Your Work Stays Yours
You keep the copyright and every other right in everything you submit to Adroit Creators. Publishing here does not transfer ownership of your work to Adroit Tutors, now or later.
You are free to publish, adapt, sell or submit your work anywhere else, including work that is already live on Creators. If another publisher needs the piece to be exclusive, tell us and we will take it down.
The Permission You Give Adroit
When your work is approved you give Adroit Tutors a non exclusive, royalty free permission to show it on Creators with your byline, for as long as it stays published.
You also allow Adroit to share the title, your byline, your profile picture and a short extract, with a link back to your work, on Adroit's website, newsletters and social media, to promote your work and Creators.
Adroit may make small corrections to spelling, formatting or layout so the piece displays properly. Any change to meaning will be sent back to you as a revision request rather than made silently.
Adroit will not sell, license or republish your work as its own, or in any paid product, without asking you first and getting your separate written permission.
Taking Your Work Down
You can ask for any published piece to be removed at any time by writing to Adroit. Once it is removed the permission above ends for that piece. Likes and competition results already recorded stay in the history.
What You Confirm When You Submit
This work is my own, or I have the right to submit it.
It does not copy anyone else's work without permission and credit.
It does not break the law, for example by defaming a real person.
It follows Adroit Creators publishing guidelines.
Publishing Guidelines
We welcome academic work, reviews, film criticism, poetry and fiction, opinion, campus writing, culture, education and technology, and anything else worth reading.
Write something original. Quote briefly, credit your sources, and use your own words for the rest.
Be fair to real people. Criticise ideas and public conduct, not private lives. Do not publish anything hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or dangerous.
Editors may approve your work, ask for changes, or decline it. A decision is about a single piece, not about you as a creator.
Academic work published here is shared for reading and discussion. It has not been peer reviewed, and Creators is not an academic journal.
Likes And The Monthly Competition
Only signed in accounts can like a piece, and each account can like each piece once. Creators cannot like their own work.
Adroit may remove likes that look artificial, for example likes from accounts created only to like one creator, and may disqualify entries that rely on them.
No monthly competition is running at the moment. Likes still count towards your profile, and any competition Adroit starts will be announced on the site.
Your Information
Your byline, profile picture, headline, university, faculty, department, biography and interests appear on your public profile. Your email address stays private unless you choose to show it.
Your full name appears on certificates you earn, and anyone with a certificate reference can check that it is genuine.
Adroit keeps a record of likes, including a scrambled network fingerprint rather than your IP address, only to keep the competition fair.
