Waiting

Hunger spurs, patience calms

It is unusual to have them both

in a space at a time.

But, here I am, hungry, at a food spot,

no queue, everyone is scattered around,

fighting for iya lungu’s attention, outstretched

‘takeaways’, like beggars fighting for a

giver’s alms,

good things always come to those who wait,

so,

I waited…
